As chief noncommissioned officer in the operations section of an engineer unit supervises the office activities and coordinates the office work with the field work of an engineer unit.
Assists and instructs draftsmen in the preparation of plans and drawings, assigns surveying crews in the determination of data used in construction projects, estimates material and manpower needs, and keeps records of projects. Must be thoroughly familiar with methods of accurately estimating material and manpower needs for various types of construction projects.
Must be able to read maps, blueprints, and engineer's notes. Must be thoroughly familiar with engineering and construction principles.
