Personnel of MOS 7051 employ firefighting equipment and extinguishing materials to rescue victims involved in aircraft crashes and to fight fires. Typical duties include operating, servicing, inspecting, and testing aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicles, firefighting systems, controls, and rescue equipment, controls and rescue equipment; instructing personnel in the techniques and procedures rescue and firefighting.
Prerequisites.
(1) Must possess an MM score of 95 or higher.
(2) Minimum height requirement to be classified a 7051 is 64 inches (Actual Height).
Requirements.
(1) Complete the Fire Protection Apprentice (Marines) Course.
(2) Must meet the medical standards as required per the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1582 and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 29 Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) 1910.234.
(3) Vision correctable to 20/20, maximum vision impairment of 20/50 and normal color acuity.
Duties.
(1) MGySgt to Pvt
(a) Performs applicable firefighting functions.
(b) Assist in all phases of rescue incidents.
(c) Administers first aid to injured personnel. Personnel are qualified in CPR and up to first responders level.
(d) Operates, maintains, and refills all types of extinguishers.
(e) Assist in the performance of maintenance and inspection of all types of firefighting support equipment.
(f) Maintains individual protective clothing and self contained breathing apparatus.
(g) Performs appropriate defensive actins for hazardous materials incidents.
(h) Performs the duties of a firefighting dispatcher.
(i) Adheres to appropriate safety precautions.
(j) Applies appropriate firefighting and rescue techniques and procedures for attack, control, and extinguishment of fires.
(k) Demonstrates familiarity with the construction, crew location, hazardous areas, and hoisting points of naval aircraft.
(l) Utilizes structural firefighting and extinguishing procedures.
(m) Applies appropriate safety precautions to be observed in crashes of aircraft loaded with ordnance.
(2) MGySgt to Cpl
(a) Operate, maintain, and inspect all firefighting and support equipment.
(b) Perform appropriate rescue tasks.
(c) Demonstrates familiarity with the construction, crew location, and hazardous areas of aircraft.
(d) Implement appropriate stage of Incident Management System.
(e) Perform basic life safety and fire prevention inspections.
(f) Deliver appropriate periods of technical instruction.
(3) MGySgt to Sgt
(a) Operates heavy equipment of at least a 30-ton capacity.
(b) Performs driver operator maintenance and inspection on all types of firefighting, support vehicles, and heavy equipment up to and including those in the 50-ton category.
(c) Hoists aircraft for movement and uprights inverted aircraft for crew rescue.
(d) Performs material requisitions, inventory, issue and accounting supply functions.
(4) MGySgt to SSgt
(a) Drives, operates, performs driver operator maintenance, and inspects all types of firefighting, support vehicles, and heavy equipment upto and including those in the 50-ton category.
(b) Directs all phases of aircraft rescue and firefighting operations.
(c) Performs technical training in all phases of aircraft rescue and firefighting operations and basic structural firefighting.
(d) Supervises off-station independent emergency responses for aircraft incidents and mutual aid support.
(e) Conducts fire prevention inspections on flightlines, fuel pits, hangers, and support structures and/or facilities.
(5) MGySgt to GySgt
(a) Independently supervises mutual-aid or automatic-aid responses.
(b) Plans life safety and fire prevention inspections.
(c) Plans technical training schedule.
(6) MGySgt and MSgt
(a) Prepares emergency operations plans.
(b) Advises and assists in the development of budget requirements.
