Builds and repairs wooden structures made from heavy timbers and planking.  Performs such heavy timber work as capping, shoring, bracing, and underpinning. Constructs flumes, caissons, bridges, trestles, cofferdams, retaining walls, supports for bridge forms, and other wooden structures.


Uses carpenters tools, broad ax, adz, pneumatic drills, and drift bolt drivers.

May assemble, disassemble, load and unload bridge sections, pontoons and other component parts of temporary bridges coincident to their transportation. May supervise or inspect construction and repair work.
