511 - SMALL ARMS MECHANIC
[SMALL ARMS MECH]
Cleans, oils, services, and repairs small arms such as rifles, pistols, mortars, machine guns and flame throwers.
Checks weapons for malfunctioning. Disassembles weapons, and repairs or replaces worn or damaged parts. Lubricates, machines, grinds, and makes precision adjustments of all parts to obtain required clearance and tolerances. Tests repaired weapons by simulated or actual firing. Must be capable of making all types of repairs to small arms, including fabrication of simple replacement parts with hand tools.
