21T - Technical Engineer

Technical Engineering NCO:  The technical engineering NCO supervises or participates in construction site development to include technical investigation, surveying, drafting, development of construction plans and specifications and performing quality control inspections. Assists in the performance of field and laboratory tests on construction materials, construction and geodetic surveys, and drafting for military construction. Performs field and laboratory testing on construction materials, construction surveys and design drafting for military construction. Supervises technical engineering activities relating to construction surveying, drafting and testing of construction materials. Plans, directs, inspects, and performs technical site development activities. Supervises reconnaissance duties and reconnoiters survey sites to determine special requirements of obstacles encountered. Supervises duties performed by subordinate personnel. Plans and organizes work activities. Collect available charts, maps, control lists, aerial photographs and other topographic data necessary to maintain a deployable database. Disseminate survey data. Perform as technical authority in all survey matters.

Reconnaissance Sergeant:   The Recon Sergeant is responsible for tracking route status, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) found or detonated, engineer assets on the battlefield, implementation of engineer assets, force protection, and reverse Battlefield Operating Systems (BOSs). Another area that leads to success is knowing things that the average combat engineer might not be familiar with. These include the rise and fall of low-water crossings ,the amount of power required to run a forward operating base(FOB) or a local village, the amount of spoil required to fill HESCO® Bastions, and the number of HESCO Bastions required to build fortifications or walls. Additionally, it is beneficial to be familiar with the newest digital Army systems. In this job, you must display the professionalism and expertise associated with the Engineer Regiment daily. ).
