Concrete and Asphalt Equipment Operator: Major duties. The concrete and asphalt operator provides mobility, countermobility, and survivability in support of combat forces. The concrete and asphalt equipment operator works as a squad, section, or platoon performing basic horizontal construction. Supervises or operates all equipment used in concrete and asphalt production and paving. Produces concrete with concrete mobile mixer. Assists in the erection and operation of asphalt producing plants. Operates asphalt plant for the production of hot mix asphalt. Sets up and operates asphalt lay-down equipment to meet desired asphalt specification. Directs combat engineering missions. The concrete and asphalt operator accomplishes these tasks while staying current in basic soldiering skills, which is necessary for today’s battlefield.
Heavy Vehicle Driver: The Heavy Vehicle Driver is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of tractors, semi- tractors, trailers and vehicles of more than 5-ton capacity. The primary operator of this vehicle is responsible for the maintenance of the tractor and semi-trailer and responsible for the proper loading, tie-down and unloading of engineer equipment. This equipment can include crawler and wheeled tractors with dozer attachments, scoop loader, motorized grader, towed or self-propelled scraper, backhoe, Hydraoulic excavator and rollers.

Paving Operations Supervisor: Major Duties. Directs employment of concrete mobile mixer. Plans and directs layout and erection of asphalt plant. Supervises production of hot mix asphalt. Directs asphalt laydown and rolling operations. Directs combat engineering missions.

(a) A minimum score of 90 in aptitude area GM in Armed Services Vocational aptitude Battery (ASVAB) tests administered prior to 2 January 2002.
(b) A minimum score of 88 in aptitude area GM on ASVAB tests administered on and after 2 January 2002.
Active Army or Reserve Component enlisted personnel. Must possess a valid state motor vehicle operator license.
(6) Mandatory formal training (completion of MOS 21V10 course conducted under auspices of U.S. Army Engineer School) or meet the civilian acquired skills criteria per paragraph 9-5b(5)(b) of this pamphlet and in paragraphs (a) thru (c) below.

Course Scope:
Teaches camouflage, demolitions, mine/countermine, field fortifications, and rigging. MOS specific phase provides hardware oriented training on operation and preventive maintenance of concrete and asphalt equipment. A field training exercise reinforces training received.
Special Information:
At the completion of this Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) Advanced Individual Training (AIT) Course, Soldiers are required to attend the Battle Focused Training (BFT, course number 030-F15) at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. The course length for BFT is 8-days and reinforces the Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills.
