MOS 0847, Artillery Meteorological Man

Artillery meteorological men assist in the delivery of accurate artillery fire by observing weather conditions and computing and distributing weather data for use in field artillery and mortar fire control. Duties include preparing weather observation equipment, measuring surface observations, obtaining atmospheric readings at various altitudes by pilot balloon observations, radiosonde soundings, and numerical meteorological modeling. Other duties include performing preventive and corrective maintenance instruments and equipment. Upon promotion to staff sergeant, and completion of formal schooling, MOS 0847 will be redesignated as MOS 0848.


Prerequisites.
(1) Must be a U.S. Citizen.
(2) Must possess a GT score of 105 or higher.
(3) Must possess a secret security clearance.

Requirements.
(1) Complete the Field Artillery Meteorological Crewman Course, Ft Sill, OK.
(2) This MOS will be retained as an additional MOS upon promotion to staff sergeant and assumption of PMOS 0848.
