Air traffic controllers-radar arrival/departure controllers perform various duties within a radar facility incident to the control of air traffic at an established air traffic control facility, expeditionary airfield, or remote landing areas. They coordinate aircraft movement information with associated facilities or agencies, coordinate current weather and airfield conditions as required, and perform air traffic control duties in both tactical and nontactical air traffic control organizations. This MOS may be assigned as a NMOS only.
Prerequisites.
Must have a secret security clearance.
Requirements.
(1) Must meet the requirements/prerequisites of MOS 7257.
(2) Qualify as a radar arrival/departure controller, or the Commanding Officer of a squadron level unit or higher under which Marine Air Traffic Controllers are assigned and where air traffic control services are being performed in an expeditionary/tactical field environment of at least four consecutive months, may certify a Marine as a radar arrival/departure controller.
Duties.
(1) GySgt to Pvt
(a) Performs duties on all operational positions in a radar air traffic control facility less radar approach control.
(b) Performs duties as a radar arrival/departure controller.
(2) GySgt to LCpl: Supervise and instruct trainees on all operational positions in a radar air traffic control facility less radar approach control.
(3) GySgt to Cpl: Perform duties as a radar supervisor in accordance with the current edition of reference (cb), the Air Traffic Control NATOPS manual.
(4) GySgt and SSgt
(a) May act as a crew chief.
(b) Organizes and administers a radar air traffic control facility.
(5) GySgt: May act as an MCAS ATC Facility NCOIC, radar chief, ATC training chief, Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS) examiner, or as a detachment NCOIC within a Marine Air Control Squadron (MACS).
