Metal Work: The metal worker inspects, installs, modifies, and performs maintenance on metal and composite material body components, radiators, fuel tanks, hulls, and accessories of Army watercraft, aviation assets, combat systems, and general-purpose equipment. The metal worker’s primary duties center on ferrous and nonferrous welding processes using gas, arc, MIG and TIG. Duties cover a full spectrum of metal preparations, painting processes, auto body repair, and fabrications.
91W2O - Skill Level Two
Squad Leader: This soldier is responsible for all that the squad does or fails to do. They are a tactical leader and, as such, lead by example. The squad leader trains his/her squad on the individual and collective tasks required to sustain combat effectiveness. Manages the logistical and administrative needs of their squad. He requests and issues ammunition, water, rations, and special equipment. Maintains accountability of his soldiers and equipment. Completes casualty feeder reports and reviews the casualty reports completed by squad members. Submits requests for awards and decorations. Directs the maintenance of the squad's weapons and equipment. Inspects the condition of soldiers' weapons, clothing, and equipment. Insures that material and supplies are distributed to the soldiers in the squad. Keeps the platoon sergeant/leader informed on squad supply status and squad requirements. Ensures supplies and equipment are internally cross-leveled within the squad.

Students must be an enlisted member of the Active Army, Marine Corps or (USA/USMC) Reserve Component. All Soldiers must attend consecutively (back-to-back) the Phase 1, 704-91W10, and their applicable Phase 2, 704-91W10, or 700-1316 (OS). These courses are not split option courses. Near and distance visual acuity of at least 20/30 in each eye regardless of whether or not corrective lenses are worn. SECURITY: None
Qualifying scores.
(a) A minimum score of 90 in aptitude area GM in Armed Services Vocational aptitude Battery (ASVAB) tests administered prior to 2 January 2002.
(b) A minimum score of (88 in aptitude area GM and 85 in aptitude area GT) or minimum score of 93 in aptitude area GM on ASVAB tests administered on and after 2 January 2002 and prior to 1 July 2004.
(c) A minimum score of (88 in aptitude area GM and 83 in aptitude area GT) or a minimum score of 93 in aptitude area GM on ASVAB tests administered on and after 1 July 2004.
Course Scope:
The phase consists of instruction on Shop Fundamentals, Oxy-Fuel Welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) / Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW).
Special Information:
Phase 1 704-91W10 is the consolidated (ITRO) POI for this course. Initial entry training US Army Soldiers must successfully complete this Phase 1 and Phase 2 704-91W10 to be awarded the As of 2010 February 01 MOS. US Marine Corps students must successfully complete this Phase 1 and Phase 2 700-1316 (OS) to be awarded the MOS.
