Constructs, repairs, maintains, and calibrates machine shop tools, jigs, fixtures, dies, gauges, and instruments; or designs and prepares specifications for such instruments and equipment.
Lays out, fits, and assembles tool parts, and performs other highly skilled machine shop work. Must be highly skilled in the use of machine tools. Must be able to read blueprints. Must have a thorough knowledge of the physical characteristics of metals, and of methods of heat-treating. Note—Use appropriate title. This job represents a higher skill than SSN 114.
