Performs various duties in the operations office of an aviation unit, such as assisting in the preparation of flight orders and flight routes, logging outgoing and incoming aircraft, obtaining clearances, providing weather information, preparing trouble reports, and keeping pilot, crew, and engine logs of flight time.
May direct air traffic at a flying field. May communicate with pilots in flight or with other stations regarding position and course of transient airplanes. Must be thoroughly familiar with flying regulations regarding air traffic. Note—See also SSN 791.
