485 - TANK FARM OPERATOR, GASOLINE STORAGE
[TANK FARM OPER]
Operates and maintains a gasoline tank farm at or in the vicinity of an airfield or air base.
Operates the pumps and valves, directing the flow from the source of supply through the storage tanks to the supply outlet. Gauges fuel storage tanks and makes minor repairs on pumps, valves, and hose or pipe lines. May perform simple tests on petroleum products; may maintain stock records and may submit inventories and reports on amount of gasoline received and distributed.
Must be thoroughly familiar with the operation and maintenance of pumping equipment, with expansion problems, with sediment and water control, and with safety requirements for handling highly inflammable liquids.
