Installs, inspects, tests, and repairs very high frequency radio equipment.
Tests equipment, using such instruments as voltmeters, ohmmeters, tube testers, and oscilloscopes. Isolates and corrects defects either by replacing parts or by repairing units. Improvises or makes substitutions for defective parts when replacements are not available. May operate and repair fixed and mobile ground direction finding equipment.
Must have general knowledge of the theory of operation of very high frequency radio transmitters, receivers, and related equipment. Note—This SSN will be considered primary for persons also qualified for SSN 174. See also SSN's 649 and 774.
