Tests, charges, repairs, and rebuilds storage batteries. Examines and tests unserviceable batteries.
Checks connector terminals, straps, casing, and cell plates to determine feasibility of repair. Charges batteries, testing and checking individual cells at intervals. Disassembles defective batteries, examining cell plates and separators, and replacing eroded or warped parts: reassembles units, replacing cell covers and sealing with melted pitch. Mixes electrolyte, fills cells, and charges repaired batteries. Must be thoroughly familiar with construction of storage batteries, and the operation and maintenance of charging apparatus.
