Performs a variety of woodworking and metalworking tasks in the repair and maintenance of railway cars.
Cuts and shapes wood to construct or repair wooden parts. Makes and hangs doors, lays floors and roofing, and fits siding to railroad cars. Repairs or replaces broken or defective metal parts. Must be able to work from blueprints or sketches. Must be skilled in use of woodworking power machinery, carpentry hand tools, and such metalworking tools as air drill, air hammer, air jack, drill press, and power shears.
