242 - TOOLROOM KEEPER
Receives, stores, issues, and keeps account of tools used in a machine or repair shop. Issues tools to workers.
Maintains stock cards, showing stock number, quantity credited, and distribution of tools among shop personnel. Arranges tools systematically in bins or racks. Periodically inspects and makes such minor repairs to tools as grinding drill bits, replacing handles, and sharpening axes, saws, and knives.
Must be thoroughly familiar with nomenclature of tools and with shop procedure. Should have general familiarity with regulations governing accountability, responsibility, and supply procedures. Note—See also SSN's 348, 457, 793, and 848.
