573 - FREIGHT TRANSPORTATION CLERK

Performs various clerical duties incident to freight transportation by rail, water, or air.
Prepares bills of lading, keeps demurrage records, orders, checks, and diverts movement of freight cars from one destination to another by advising proper railroad. May perform additional duties of Passenger Transportation Clerk (SSN 574). Must have general familiarity with regulations pertaining to freight transportation, including rates, routings, and land grant deductions.
Must know classifications of merchandise. Note—See also SSN's 379 and 575.
