206 - PROJECTIONIST, 35MM

Operates, maintains, and performs adjustments and minor repairs on 35mm motion picture projecting and sound-reproducing equipment.

Puts film in machine; focuses image on screen; changes and adjusts carbon in arc lamp and adjusts arc lamp for maximum even illumination; performs changeovers from one projector to another. Operates and maintains power supply unit such as motor generator, converter, or rectifier. Rewinds and repairs film. Changes and tests vacuum tubes in sound-amplifying system. May operate floodlights, spotlights, and special effects machine.

Must be a graduate of a naval sound motion picture technician's school, or have equivalent training or experience. Must have a working knowledge of optics, mechanics of projection, basic electricity, and amplifier circuits. Noteā€”See also SSN 980.
