Launcher Crewmember: Crew members are responsible for configuring their equipment for missile launch and verify systems operational readiness. Crew members are also required to perform March Order and Emplacement, PMCS, fault recognition, missile reload using both the GMT and a forklift (if available) and operate radio and wire communications.
Missile Handler/Driver: Provides transportation of Guided Missile Transporter (GMT) and Guided Missile Canister (GMC) and loads and removes Guided Missile Canister (GMC) onto/from Guided Missile Transporter (GMT) onto/from Launching Station (LS). Performs organizational level system maintenance and PMCS on the Guided Missile Transporter (GMT) and Guided Missile Canister (GMC).
Support Section Crew Member: Performs operator level Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on the Patriot Support Maintenance Equipment (PSME). Performs March Order and Emplacement (MO&E) of the Battalion/Battery Maintenance Center (BMC) and the trailer-mounted 15-KW generator set.
Vehicle Driver/Gunner: Responsible for the transportation and security of the Launcher Platoon Sergeant/Leader in the Air and Missile Defense (AMD) Unit. Performs operator level Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on assigned vehicle.
Support Section Team Leader: Supervises the system maintenance section and provides supervision of March Order and Emplacement (MO&E) and Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) of the Patriot Support Maintenance Equipment. Supervises Patriot System Operator/Organizational Maintenance and maintenance of the Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)
Sr. Missile Handler/Driver: Supervises and assists with transportation of Guided Missile Transporter (GMT) and Guided Missile Canister (GMC) and supervises loading and removal of Guided Missile Canister (GMC) onto/from Guided Missile Transporter (GMT) onto/from Launching Station (LS). Supervises organizational level system maintenance and PMCS on the Guided Missile Transporter (GMT) and Guided Missile Canister (GMC).
Assistant Launcher Section Chief: Assist with supervision of; preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) required to sustain or return the Patriot Launching Station (LS), Enhanced Launcher Electronic System (ELES), Patriot guided missile round, and associated equipment to its operational readiness condition. Perform Battle Damage Assessment Repair (BDAR) and system deployment, and missile resupply/reload functions.
Section Leader: The Section leader provides tactical and technical training in addition to maintaining the health and welfare of the junior NCOs and Soldiers assigned to his/her section. The section leader teaches individual and collective training, develops cohesion and instills the Army values within his/her Soldiers.
Master Gunner: Serves as the Master Gunner in the battery headquarters of the Air and Missile Defense (AMD) battery; Evaluates all positions in the firing battery; Consolidates, writes, and implements the training plan for all Patriot related equipment; Writes the battery defense design for the commander’s approval; Coordinates training with all the platoons to facilitate unit training; Ensures the defense design is properly entered and tested in AMDWS, and is IAW BN directives; Coordinates with the Battalion Master Evaluator for guidance and evaluations; Ensures proper cross training across positions to prevent degradation upon loss of crew personnel; Ensures all training is IAW ARTEP and TSOP standards; Advises the commander on the training status of the unit.
Launcher Section Chief: Supervises and completes missile reload operations. Supervises operator/organizational Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) on launching station equipment and launching section operations.
Assistant Operations Sergeant: Serves as an Assistant Operations Sergeant in the Battalion Headquarters of the Air and Missile Defense (AMD) battalion; Assists the Operations Sergeant in the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of battalion training plans and operations.
Detachment Sergeant: Performs duties while assigned on special operational assignments such as to an Active Component/Reserve Component (AC/RC) Battalion.
Launcher Platoon Sergeant: Serves as Platoon Sergeant for the launcher platoon of a forward deployed Patriot Battery in support of Higher Echelon; Responsible for the health, welfare, morale, training, and supervision of 15 - 25 Soldiers and NCOs; provides technical and tactical guidance to accomplish the daily duties of his/her platoon, to include supply, food service, and NBC Operations, as well as the overall training, operations, and administrative actions for the platoon; responsible for multiple HEMTT’s, launching stations, PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles, and support equipment, valued in excess of $45,000,000; Evaluates all positions in the firing battery; Writes and implements the training plan for the launcher platoon; Evaluates the battery defense design and briefs commander of deficiencies, and subordinates for execution; Coordinates training with all platoons to facilitate unit training; Ensures proper cross training across positions to prevent degradation upon loss of crew personnel; Ensures all training is IAW ARTEP and TSOP standards; Advises the commander on the training status of the platoon.
Master Gunner: Serves as the Master Gunner in the battalion headquarters of the Air and Missile Defense (AMD) Battalion; Evaluates all positions in the firing battalion; Consolidates, writes, and implements the training plan for all Patriot related equipment; Writes the battalion defense design for the commander’s approval; Coordinates training with all the platoons to facilitate unit training; Ensures the defense design is properly entered and tested in AMDWS, and is IAW BN directives; Coordinates with the Battalion Master Evaluator for guidance and evaluations; Ensures proper cross training across positions to prevent degradation upon loss of crew personnel; Ensures all training is IAW ARTEP and TSOP standards; Advises the commander on the training status of the unit.
Air Defense Master Evaluator: Serves as the Air Defense Master Evaluator for a FORSCOM Echelon Above Corps Patriot Battalion missioned to 3rd Army; Responsible for the health, welfare, morale, training, and professional development of 3 soldiers; Assists the Battalion Electronic Missile Maintenance Officer (EMMO) with training evaluations of unit Fire Control and Launcher personnel IAW the Patriot Brigade Gunnery Program standards; Responsible for the safety, readiness, and training of over 1 billion dollars of Patriot equipment within the battalion; Evaluates all Patriot components at both the battalion and battery levels; Aids in the development of the Battalion defense design; Coordinates all battalion evaluations and both coordinates and executes battery level evaluations at the Table VIII level; Validates training plans for Patriot related equipment in the battalion; Administers Table IV written exams; Provides input for selection of future Master Gunners; Enforces Gunnery Program and TSOP standards consistently throughout the battalion; Provides training to subordinate unit Master Gunners.
Intelligence Sergeant: Serves as the S-2 Intelligence Sergeant for an Echelon Above Corps Air Defense Artillery Brigade with a world-wide contingency mission; Primary responsibility of Long, Short, and Near-term planning, Brigade Intelligence operations, serves as the Brigades Physical Security NCOIC; responsible for the daily operations of the S-2 staff to include administrative actions relating to personnel and physical security, Map Library Custodian, maintains and training; responsible for the morale and welfare of 5 soldiers, 2 NCOs, 2 NCOICs, and section equipment and facilities valued at over 25 million dollars.
Operations Sergeant: Serves as the Operations Sergeant for an Echelon Above Corps Air Defense Artillery Battalion with a world-wide contingency mission; Primary responsibility of Long, Short, and Near-term planning, military schools processing, ranges and ammunition forecasting, tasking management, and master gunner operations; Responsible for the morale and welfare of 15 soldiers, 12 NCOs, 4 NCOICs, and section equipment and facilities valued at over 15 million dollars.
