Plans and lays out aircraft maintenance areas, component repair shops and facilities; determines personnel and parts requirements to repair aircraft and associated equipment; coordinates work requirements and assigns duties; supervises and applies production control, quality control and other maintenance management principles and procedures. Guides maintenance personnel in diagnosing complex malfunctions. Maintains supply economy and discipline; prepares evaluations, special reports and records pertaining to aircraft maintenance and related activities. Supervises technical training programs. Prepares evaluation reports on suborddinate personnel. Controls the flow of work orders, requisitions, recurring reports and correspondence. Assists in preparation of plans and policies. Conducts battle damage assessment and determines required repairs to be applied. Operates the Tactical Army Combat Service Support Computer System. Training in all previously listed areas are reinforced during a field training exercise.
Prerequisite: Active Army or Reserve Component enlisted personnel (SFC or SSG). Selected by DA (active Army) or recommended by unit commander (Reserve Component). Qualified in CMF 67, 68B, 68D, 68F, 68H. Meets requirements outlined in AR 351–1. Active Army and Reserve Component personnel over 40 must complete medical screening at their local installation before attending this course and will hand carry a copy of their completed medical screen report.
Special Information: Soldiers will attend 5 days of field training exercises.
