25F - Network Switching Systems Operator Maintainer

Network Switching Systems Operator-Maintainer performs maintenance on electronic switches, control centers, combat radios and other equipment associated with networks. They also use computers to troubleshoot the system when errors occur.

EAC Operator:  EAC Operators are responsible for the operation of the Emergency Action Console, a switchboard with direct access to top leaders.

Extension Switch Operator:  Extension Switch Operator-Maintainers are responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of Mobile Subscriber Equipment (MSE) Small Extension Node (AN/TTC-48) Switches.  They also perform preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) procedures on assigned vehicles and power generators.

FES Operator:  Forced Entry Switch (FES) Switch Operator-Maintainers are responsible for the operation and maintenance of switching systems in support of Contingency Communications sections of Signal Battalions Echelons Corps and Below.

Management Shelter Operator:  Management Shelter Operator-Maintainers are responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of the AN/TSQ-154 Mobile Subscriber Unit (MSE) Node Management Facility.

Node Center Switch Operator:  Node Center (AN/TTC-47) Switch Operator-Maintainers are responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of Node Centers or large Extension Node (AN/TTC-46) Switches.

Patriot Switch Operator:  Patriot Switch Operator-Maintainers are responsible for the operation and maintenance of Patriot Communications equipment in the Communications Center, Fire Distribution, Fire Control and Communications Relay sections of a Patriot Air Defense Artillery Battalion.

Switch Systems Operator:  Switch Systems Operator-Maintainers are responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of automatic switchboards, electronic switching systems, “red switches,” or telephone central offices; they also conduct preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) procedures on assigned vehicles and power generators.

Senior Switch Systems Operator:  Senior Switch Systems Operator-Maintainers supervise and perform as a team member in the installation, operation and maintenance of automatic switchboards, electronic switching systems, “red switches,” or telephone central offices; they also assist in the conduct of preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) procedures on assigned vehicles and power generators.

Extension Switch Supervisor:  Extension Switch Supervisors supervise the installation, operation and maintenance of MSE Small Extension Node Switches; they also supervise the execution of preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) procedures on assigned vehicles and power generators.

FES Switch Supervisor:  FES Switch Supervisors are responsible for the supervision of the installation, operation and maintenance of switching systems in support of Contingency Communications sections of Signal Battalions that exist at Echelons Corps and Below.

Node Switch Supervisor:  Node Switch Supervisors supervise the installation, operation and maintenance of MSE Node Centers or Large Extension Node Switches; they also supervise the execution of preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) procedures on assigned vehicles and power generators.

Plans Operations NCO:  Plans/Operations NCOs are responsible for performing systems control center operations for the planning, configuration, and employment of electronic or MSE switching systems and associated equipment.

Section Chief:  The Section Chief serves as the principle NCO in a section composed of both electronic switching systems and wire installation personnel, if no MOS 25W section supervisor is authorized.  The Section Chief can also be found in the Communications Relay Section in the HHB of a Patriot Air Defense Artillery Battalion.

Switch Systems Supervisor:  Switch Systems Supervisors supervise the installation, operation and maintenance of automatic switchboards, electronic switching systems, “red switches,” or telephone central offices; they also supervise the execution of preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) procedures on assigned vehicles and power generators.

(a) A minimum score of 105 in aptitude area EL 105 in aptitude area SC in Armed Services Vocational aptitude Battery (ASVAB) tests administered prior to 2 January 2002.
(b) A minimum score of 102 in aptitude area EL and 105 in aptitude area SC on ASVAB tests administered on and after 2 January 2002.
Course is unclassified. MOS requires a SECRET clearance.
Ability to read, comprehend, and clearly enunciate English.
Ability to work for extended periods in a confined area.
Credit for successful completion of one year of high school algebra and science.
Formal Training (completion of MOS 25F Course conducted under the auspices of the USA Signal School) mandatory or waiver may be granted by Commandant, U.S. Army Signal School, ATTN: ATZH-POE, Ft Gordon, GA 30905-5300.

Course Scope:
During training for the 25F Military Occupational Security (MOS), the student will acquire skills and knowledge to provide unit level maintenance for Moblie Subscriber Equipment (MSE), Digital Group Multiple (DGM), and training on critical Common Core digital tasks, acquire skills and knowledge to install, operate, and maintain to direct support level the Automatic Central Office Telephone Switching Systems AN/TTC-56(V) as a Network switching Systems Operator-Maintainer, and acquire skills and knowledge to install, operate, and maintain to direct support level the Node Center (NC) AN/TTC-47(V), and the Large Extension Node (LEN) AN/TTC-46(V). Soldiers will also receive router networking training to enhance their operating and maintaining skills.  Phase Scope: The students will acquire skills, knowledge and awareness training on Mobile Subscriber Equipment (MSE), Digital Group Multiplex (DGM), and Common Core digital tasks (FBCB2).

Course Prerequisites: Active Army or Reserve Component enlisted personnel.
Phase Prerequisites: Active Army or Reserve Component enlisted personnel.

Special Information: This course is contractor trained and is a prerequisite to the 260-ASI7E
