Assist in the conduct of assessments, coordination, research, analysis and production of civil affairs related products for Areas of Operation (AO) and actions supporting the conduct of CAactivities) CAO and CMO.

Text Prerequisites
Active Army NCOs must meet all requirements for initial award of the MOS as prescribed in DA PAM 611-21, Para. 10-134, Military Occupational Classification and Structure.- The Active Army 38B MOS is open for reclassification of Active Army NCOs in grade E5 (SGT) or E6 (SSG) with a minimum of 5 years of active federal service.- Exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis for E6 (SSG) promotable or E7 (SFC) Soldiers.- Soldiers must be a graduate of Warrior Leaders Course (WLC) or its equivalent.- Must possess a SECRET Security Clearance (Interim Secret clearances are acceptable to attend the course).- Active Army Soldiers mustbe Airborne qualified for or volunteer for Airborne training.- Active Army Soldiers must have a qualifying DLAB score IAW AR 611-6.Any variation from the above standards requires a waiver from the CG, USAJFKSWCS.
Course Scope:
Plan, execute, and transition tactical level CA operations (CAO) in support of civil-military operations (CMO). CAO training focuses on the CA Core Tasks; Support to Civil Administration, Foreign Humanitarian Assistance, Populace and Resources Control, Nation Assistance, and Civil Information Management; Adaptive Thinking and Leadership; encompassing Negotiations and Mediations; Program Management, Civil Affairs Systems Analysis, and Political-Military Analysis. Upon completion of course students will be language qualified. Overall training is mission oriented and encompasses language and culture, allowing for maximum hands-on use of CAO/CMO doctrinal procedures during practical exercises (PEs) and a culminating exercise (CULEX) that exposes students to realistic operational situations and environmental elements.

Students attending this course must meet the height/weight standards outlined in AR 600-9 and the physical fitness standards outlined in AR 350-1, paragraph 3-9. Failure to meet those standards will not result in being removed from the course. Soldiers will continue to receive training and the procedures outlined in Paragraph 3 of Department of the Army Memorandum, dated 10 Aug 06, Physical Fitness and Height and Weight Requirements for Military Institutional Training will be followed.
