56M - Chaplain Assistant

Army Chaplains provide for the spiritual needs of Army personnel of any denomination. Chaplain Assistants provide much-needed support to the Chaplains during missions and everyday activities. A Chaplain Assistant primarily provides support for the Unit Ministry Team programs and worship services.

Battalion Chaplain Assistant:  Coordinates religious support for the Soldiers and Family Members of the Battalion.  Responsible for the daily administrative operations and logistical support.  Manages religious support resources to include property, ecclesiastical equipment, section material and supplies.  Assesses and advises the Battalion Chaplain on morale issues for targeted religious support.  Assists in planning religious support operations and deployments.  Provides security for the Unit Ministry Team (UMT).  Integrates the UMT into tactical elements and synchronize religious support in the Contemporary Operating Environment (COE).  Research religious information to answer Commander’s Critical Information Requirements (CCIR).   

Installation Chaplain Assistant:  Integrates religious operations, spiritual readiness, and basic human interaction tasks into the unit mission at the installation level; provides  administrative support, coordinates transportation, audio/ visual  support; maintains reports, files, and data applicable to religious support operations. Coordinates and provides emergency religious ministrations.  Assists in managing religious support resources to include property, ecclesiastical equipment, section material/supplies and non-appropriated funds; assist in managing the upkeep and maintenance of a multi-purpose worship facilities and programs; coordinates religious support for all faith groups.

Medical Center Chaplain Assistant:  Serves as the Department of Ministry and Pastoral Care Chaplain Assistant; provides support for all worship services, memorial services, funerals, and weddings to staff and patients; assists in patient visitations; supports the chaplain during MEDEVAC operations; performs administrative and logistical tasks for the department; submits and tracks all work orders; maintains cleanliness of facilities.

Medical Activity Chaplain Assistant:  Serves as the chaplain assistant for the Department of Ministry and Pastoral Care; assists in patient visitations; responsible for all administrative and logistical support for the department; provides support for all worship services, memorial services, funerals, and weddings to staff and patients; assists in the development of the CMRP; maintains volunteer records; submits and tracks all work orders; maintains cleanliness of facility.

Manuever Battalion Chaplain Assistant:  Coordinates religious support for the Soldiers and Family Members of the Battalion.  Responsible for the daily administrative operations and logistical support.  Manages religious support resources to include property, ecclesiastical equipment, section material and supplies.  Assesses and advises the Battalion Chaplain on morale issues for targeted religious support.  Assists in planning religious support operations and deployments.  Provides security for the Unit Ministry Team (UMT).  Integrates the UMT into tactical elements and synchronize religious support in the Contemporary Operating Environment (COE).  Research religious information to answer Commander’s Critical Information Requirements (CCIR).  

Medical Center Chaplain Assistant:  Assist the department NCOIC in the daily operation of the department; supervises two enlisted personnel; responsible for tracking all unit training conducted by department personnel; serves as liason between the unit and the department; attends training meetings; assists in the oversight of all religious support programs and services; serves as the department NCOIC in his or her absence.

Medical Activity Chaplain Assistant:  Serves as NCOIC for the Department of Ministry and Pastoral Care; assists in patient visitations; responsible for all administrative and logistical support for the department; provides support for all worship services, memorial services, funerals, and weddings to staff and patients assists in the development of the CMRP; supervises department volunteers; maintains volunteer records; submits and tracks all work orders; maintains cleanliness of facility.

Separate Brigade Chaplain Assistant:  Directs, plans, coordinates Brigade UMT operations; Prepares religious support (RS) annexes to OPLANS; Integrates reserve component and active brigades and battalion UMTs to provide comprehensive Support on the battlefield; Responsible for battle tracking BDEs and BN UMTs, Advises chaplain assistants, chaplains, and commanders on UMT Religious Support and battlefield operations; Maintains equipment.

Chaplain Assistant NCO:  Primary NCO advisor to the Installation Chaplain and to subordinate Ministry Teams providing direct religious support to Soldiers and Family Members.  Provides for the religious and moral needs of the command.  Manages Appropriated and non-appropriated funds.  Supervises the utilization of chapels and religious support facilities.  Provides training and mentorship to all enlisted personnel.  Makes assignment recommendations and manages duty rosters.  Administrator for automation users.

Medical Center Chaplain Assistant:  Serves as the Regional Medical Command Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Command Chaplain and the Medical Center Department of Ministry and Pastoral Care NCOIC; provides technical supervision to all Chaplain Assistants in the region; conducts staff assistance visits to subordinate medical treatment facilities within the region; supervises all enlisted personnel in the department to include contractors and civilian volunteers; provides oversight of all administrative and logistical support in support of all religious activities in the department.

Corps Artillery Senior Unit Ministry Team NCO:  Directs, plans, coordinates Corps Artillery UMT operations; Prepares religious support (RS) annexes to OPLANS; Integrates reserve component and active brigades and battalion UMTs to provide comprehensive Support on the battlefield; Responsible for battle tracking BDEs and BN UMTs, Advises chaplain assistants, chaplains, and commanders on UMT Religious Support and battlefield operations; Maintains equipment.

Army Service Component Command:  The Operations and Training NCO provides input to the Futures NCO to ensure current SA for the Command Chaplain and SGMs travels.  Prepares EXSUMs after completion of travel ensuring proper format and content.  Monitors the RSOS ensuring information is cross-leveled for subordinate RSTs.  Assist the MCP NCOIC by maintaining and updating personnel rosters.  Assist the Futures NCO with document scrubs verifying that correct codes, ASIs and SQIs are recorded. Captures trends.  Integrates UJTL tasks in a JIIM environment. Assist to IMO, MOVEMENT, and LOGISTICS NCOs ensuring seamless collaboration of efforts.

Senior Chaplain Assistant NCO:  Serves as the Plans and Operations NCO for the Division Chaplain supporting Soldiers, DoD Civilian Employees, and family members; provides operational guidance and advises the primary Division Staff on battle staff functions of the UMTs; develops and plans battlefield circulation models for Division UMTS in coordination with Division Operations; synchronizes weekly and monthly reports; responsible for the operational and logistical support of the primary Division Chaplain Staff; hand receipt holder for office property and equipment.

Army Service Component Command:  The Main Command Post NCOIC is responsible for religious support operations within the Main Command Post.  Advises the Command Chaplain on the planning, preparing, executing, and assessing the commander’s religious support program throughout the AOR. Direct NCO support to the MCP Chaplain.  Supervises and mentors chaplain assistants assigned to the section.  Fully capable of integrated functioning in a JIIM environment.  Enforces established policies concerning religious support activities.  Ensures the appropriate chaplain assistant personnel are assigned to theater army units.  Coordinates with Human Resources Command and other service chaplain assistants and religious program specialists as needed to ensure religious ministry support assets within the AOR. Assist the Operation Command Post Chief, Chaplain Assistant NCO with oversight of religious support to the theater and technical supervison of all chaplain assistants.  Conducts MOS training within the theater Army. Coordinates duties of subordinates and ensures chaplain assistant are proficient in their primary duties.  Intergrates newly assigned personnel ensuring proper plug and play of skills, knowledge and attributes.   

Master Chaplain Assistant NCO:  The Master Chaplain Assistant NCO assigned to a DRU is the senior enlisted advisor the a DRU Command Chaplain; supervises the UMT staff in administering oversight of religious support functions for the command; provides input into the development of policy and procedures for religious support operations; performs technical staff assistance visits to subordinate units and installations; develops training strategy for subordinate level chaplain assistants in professional development and wartime religious support functions; manages force structure for chaplain assistants assigned in the DRU; provides input to the DRU Command Chaplain regarding religious support operations to include administration, logistics and resource management.

Master Chaplain Assistant NCO:  Senior Unit Ministry Team (UMT) Enlisted Advisor to the Division Chaplain; forward deployed Infantry Division; primary technical UMT mentor, supervisor and trainer for chaplain assistants in the division's footprint; assignment and personnel manager for chaplain assistants within the
Division; first line supervisor and rater for Administrative/Operations NCO;  NCOIC for all UMT deployment operations instrumental to religious support; logistics coordinator for all division chaplain's TO&E resources.
