Cryptologic Technicians (Administrative) (CTA) perform technology-based administrative functions using software applications within a global information environment; perform personnel security duties for the Naval Security Group and Intelligence communities both ashore and afloat; perform manpower management functions; maintain accountability of highly Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI); operate Information Systems (IS) equipment and current software applications; perform Joint duty as a Department of Defense (DOD) courier within the Defense Courier Service; perform in a Full Time Support (FTS) capacity for the Naval Security Group Cryptologic Reserve Program.

Cryptologic Technicians (Collection) (CTR) operate sophisticated, state-of-the-art electronic signals analysis devices; perform analog and digital signal conversion; identify communications and non-communications signals; operate computer systems, networks, files, graphics software programs and associated computer peripherals; maintain and draft classified tactical and technical reports, files, records and publications; provide tactical signals analysis, technical guidance and information warfare support to fleet (surface, subsurface and air), joint, theater and national consumers in support of national security requirements.

Cryptologic Technicians (Communications) (CTO) transmit, receive, and process all forms of communications associated with automated telecommunications systems and equipment in various worldwide networks; process messages using teletypewriter equipment or computer terminals; control and operate computerized communications systems and associated equipment, including mainframe systems, satellite systems, terminals, patch panels, modems, multiplexers, and communications security devices; and use test equipment and state-of-the-art signal analysis equipment.

Cryptologic Technicians (Interpretive) (CTI) translate, interpret, and transcribe foreign languages; operate sophisticated computer-assisted information systems; prepare technical reports and statistical studies requiring foreign language skills; and provide language-related analysis and guidance to the fleet (air, surface, and subsurface) in support of national security requirements.

Cryptologic Technicians (Maintenance) (CTM) perform maintenance on electrical and electronic equipment used for communications, distortion analysis, tracking, recognition, and identification; troubleshoot, adjust, repair or replace electrical, and electronic equipment, subassemblies, and components; test, troubleshoot, and repair digital interfaces and data systems; prepare reports; and perform inspections and inventories of assigned equipment.

Cryptologic Technicians (Technical) (CTT) perform a variety of specialized duties associated with the collection and processing of airborne, shipborne, and land-based radar signals; operate electronic intelligence receiving and direction finding systems, digital recording devices, analysis terminals and associated computer equipment; produce high-power jamming signals used to deceive electronic sensors and defeat radar guided weapons system. Intelligence derived from collection and processing is used to update national databases, which is crucial to tactical and strategic units throughout the world. CTTs with Advanced Electronic training perform intermediate level repair and preventive maintenance on computer controlled electronic equipment used for detection, analysis, and identification of radar emissions.
